Fallopian Tube Obstruction or damage is considered as a major cause of infertility. This prevents sperm from coming in contact with the egg or blocking the passage of the fertilized egg into the uterus. This could be caused by:
- Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), an infection of the uterus and fallopian tubes
- Previous surgery in the abdomen or pelvis
- Pelvic tuberculosis
Fallopian Tube obstruction can be treated using tuboplasty. A less invasive and cost effective means of treatment is in vitro fertilization (IVF). Check with your doctor to know the available treatment options.
